A Pritzker, a Fan and a Handbag

Posted by Duke on July 31 at 1:02 PM On October 20th, the long anticipated Mobile Art , a collaboration between Zaha Hadid, Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel and 15 leading contemporary artists, will arrive in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield for public consumption where it will house contemporary interpretations Chanel’s classic 2.55 quilted-style chain handbag.

Friends who saw it in Hong Kong report that it is the perfect compliment to Murakami’s show at the Brooklyn Museum.

Don’t miss Hadid’s renderings here.  I sense a DMD outing....

Between this and the Victorian Gardens pop-up amusement park at Wollman Rink, I am glad to see that Central Park has found a way to turn a profit on its massive real estate, while driving more people to the park.

PS: This isn't just a smart comment, but also a hint - who's riding the Ferris Wheel with me?
